Analog Clock Online

An analog clock with hands that sweep in real time.

How to use the Analog Clock Online

  1. Open the page and the clock is drawn from your device's own clock.
  2. The shortest and thickest hand shows the hour; the middle one shows minutes.
  3. The long thin orange hand is the second hand and moves once a second.
  4. If the time looks wrong, check the date and time settings on your device.

Twelve marks, no numerals, three hands

The face carries twelve ticks set 30 degrees apart with 12 at the top and no numbers, so the hands are told apart by length and colour. The hour hand never jumps between marks: it creeps forward as the minutes pass.

Redrawn once a second, so it can sit a moment behind

The whole face is repainted on a one-second interval and reads the device clock afresh each time, so the position shown is always a real time. The repaint can fall up to a second from the instant the second turns over.

Frequently asked questions

Is the second hand accurate?

It reads your device clock and refreshes every second, so it matches your system time exactly.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The canvas is capped at 100 percent width, so on a narrow phone it shrinks to fit. It does not grow past its 280 pixel size.

Can I set it to another time zone?

No. It follows the device clock and there is no time zone list, so change the device setting to see another zone.

Does it have an alarm or a chime?

No. The page draws hands and nothing else. There is no alarm and no way to set a time, so it serves as a display.

Does it stop when the tab is in the background?

No, though browsers slow timers in hidden tabs, so the repaint can lag. The next one reads the clock again and lands right.
