How to use the Date Difference Calculator
- Set Start date and End date; they open on 2026-01-01 and 2026-12-31.
- Press Calculate to see how many days lie between the two dates.
- The order makes no difference, because the answer is an absolute value.
- Leave either field empty and it is outlined until you fill it in.
The answer is the gap, not a count of both days
From 1 January to 2 January is one day, even though two dates are named. The default pair returns 364 for the same reason, while 2026 itself is 365 days long. Add one whenever both ends belong in the total, as with a leave request.
Leap days and clock changes are already handled
Both dates are built at midnight in your device's time zone and the difference is divided into days and rounded, so a 23-hour or 25-hour day at a daylight saving change still counts as one. A 29 February inside the range counts like any other date.
Frequently asked questions
Can the result be negative?
No. The difference is shown as an absolute value, so the order of the dates does not matter.
What if both dates are the same?
The result is 0 days.
How many days are between 1 January and 31 December 2026?
364. Add one to reach 365 if both the first and the last day belong in the total, since 2026 is not a leap year.
Can it show the gap in weeks or months?
No, days only. Divide by seven for whole weeks. Months have no fixed length, so any month figure depends on which months the range covers.
Does it skip weekends and holidays?
No. Every calendar day in the range is counted, weekends and public holidays included, so working days have to be subtracted by hand.
