Ghost Leg Generator
Enter participants and outcomes, then follow the ladder to see who gets what. Keep the outcomes hidden and reveal them one path at a time, or send the exact same ladder as a link.
Participants: 0 (2โ20)
Tap a name at the top to trace that path and reveal its outcome. Names are not saved; a link carries the names and the shape of the ladder.
How to use the Ghost Leg Generator
- Type each participant in the left box of a row and an outcome in the right box. Pasting a comma or line separated list into one box spreads it over the rows below.
- Use 1 winner + blanks or Order 1โN to fill every outcome at once. Between 2 and 20 participants can play.
- Press Draw the ladder. The ladder appears with the outcomes hidden.
- Tap a name at the top to trace that path and reveal the outcome, or use Reveal all or Reveal one by one.
How the rungs are placed
The ladder grows with the number of players: eight rows plus two per participant, up to forty. In each row the gaps between the vertical lines are scanned from the left, each gap has a 35 percent chance of a rung, and the next gap is then skipped so two rungs never meet at a point.
The rungs come from a seed drawn with your browserโs cryptographic random source. A ladder link carries that seed along with the names, so whoever opens it sees exactly the same rungs, which also means nobody can change the outcome before sending it.
When the two lists do not match
Fewer than two names falls back to 1, 2, 3 and 4, and up to twenty names can play. Missing outcomes are filled in as Result1, Result2 and so on, extras are cut, and a line tells you the list was adjusted.
Frequently asked questions
What is ghost leg?
A drawing method used across East Asia, called amidakuji in Japan and sadaritagi in Korea. Vertical lines are joined by random horizontal rungs, and each path leads to exactly one outcome.
How many outcomes should I enter?
Match the number of participants for a clean result. Mismatched counts are adjusted automatically.
Is there a limit?
Up to 20 participants. The ladder gets more rows as more people join, so it still mixes well.
Is the result decided before I press the button?
No. The rungs are drawn at random on each press, so the same names and outcomes give a different arrangement every time.
Can two people land on the same outcome?
Only if you type that outcome twice. Paths never merge, so each line ends on its own position, which is how one winner hides among several blanks.
Are the names I type saved?
No. Reloading the page brings back the default set. To see the same ladder again or send it to someone, copy the ladder link.
Can I keep the outcomes hidden and reveal them one at a time?
Hide outcomes until revealed is on by default. Tap a name to trace its path and open its outcome, or press Reveal one by one to go through everyone in turn.
Can someone else see the same ladder?
Send the ladder link. It carries the names and the seed that places the rungs, so the person opening it gets exactly the same ladder.
