Crop Image Online
Drag across the image to select an area and crop it. Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use the Crop Image Online
- Choose a picture with the file picker at the top. It is drawn below, scaled down if wider than 600 pixels.
- Drag across the picture to draw the selection rectangle. Drag again to replace it.
- Press Crop selection. The result appears underneath and downloads as cropped.png.
The preview is shrunk, the crop is not
The canvas caps at 600 pixels wide for display, but the corners of your selection are scaled back up before the cut is made. A 4000 pixel wide photo is cropped at its own resolution. Anything narrower than 600 pixels is drawn at true size and never stretched.
Every crop comes out as a PNG
The result is written as PNG and saved as cropped.png whatever went in, so a JPG photo returns as a PNG. Nothing is lost in that rewrite, but PNG is lossless and photographs usually end up in a larger file than they started.
Frequently asked questions
Can I adjust the selection?
Yes, drag again to replace the current selection.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, drag with your finger to select the area.
Are my files uploaded?
No. All processing happens in your browser.
Does cropping lose picture quality?
The pixels inside your selection are kept at full resolution with no scaling. The file is rewritten as PNG, which adds no loss but often makes a photo larger on disk.
Can I set an exact size or aspect ratio?
No. The selection is made by dragging only, with no width, height or ratio fields. Check the dimensions of the downloaded file if they must be exact.
Why does it say to select a larger area?
The rectangle was under five pixels across, which a stray click also produces. Drag a wider box and press Crop selection again.
