How to use the Coin Flip Online

  1. Decide which side stands for which choice before you start.
  2. Press Flip coin. The display shows either Heads or Tails.
  3. Press Copy result to take the side showing, or read the list for earlier flips.
  4. Press Clear history to empty that list and restart the numbering at 1.

Long runs of the same side are ordinary

The generator has no memory, so four heads in a row still leave the fifth flip at even odds. Runs feel rigged mainly because we expect them to be rarer than they are.

Flips in a rowAll the same sideOdds
250%1 in 2
325%1 in 4
412.5%1 in 8
56.25%1 in 16
100.195%1 in 512

Ten heads specifically is half that, one in 1,024.

What the coin actually is

Each press takes a pseudo-random value from the browser and calls anything below the halfway mark heads. That is even enough to settle an argument, but it is not a cryptographic source, so keep it away from prize draws that matter.

Frequently asked questions

Is it exactly 50/50?

It uses your browser's random number generator, which is effectively 50/50 for practical purposes.

Can I flip repeatedly?

Yes, each press is a fresh independent flip.

Can I flip several coins at once?

No. One press gives one result. For five flips, press five times and read them off the history list, which numbers them in order.

Does my flip history survive closing the browser?

Yes, on this device and browser. The 50 newest flips sit in local storage until you press Clear history.

Which side is heads here?

There is no coin image, only the words Heads and Tails. Agree in advance which choice each word stands for.
