Business Days Calculator
Count how many weekdays fall between two dates.
How to use the Business Days Calculator
- Set the two date fields, Start date and End date, at the top of the panel.
- Press Calculate. The answer appears below as a count of weekdays.
- Subtract public holidays yourself, since only Saturdays and Sundays are taken out.
Both ends count, and a backwards range gives zero
The count walks forward a day at a time from the start date and stops after the end date, so both are included when they fall on a weekday. The dates it opens with, 1 to 31 January 2026, return 22. A range that runs backwards gives 0 rather than a warning.
Weekday counts across 2026
2026 holds 261 weekdays across its 365 days. The quarters are close but not identical, which is worth checking before promising a date counted in working days.
| Period in 2026 | Calendar days | Weekdays |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Jan to 31 Mar | 90 | 64 |
| 1 Apr to 30 Jun | 91 | 65 |
| 1 Jul to 30 Sep | 92 | 66 |
| 1 Oct to 31 Dec | 92 | 66 |
| Whole year | 365 | 261 |
Public holidays are not removed from these counts.
Frequently asked questions
Are public holidays excluded?
No. Only Saturdays and Sundays are removed. Holidays vary by country, so subtract those yourself for an exact working-day count.
Are the start and end dates included?
Yes, both dates are counted.
How many working days are in 2026?
261 before holidays. That is 365 calendar days less 104 Saturdays and Sundays, and your own national holidays come off that figure.
What if I put the later date first?
You get 0. The count only moves forward from the start date, so a reversed range gives zero instead of an error. Swap the two fields.
Can I count a six-day week?
No. The rule is fixed: Saturday and Sunday come out, every other day counts. There is no option for a different working week.
