  3. Each password joins the list below, newest first. Press Clear history to empty that list.

What 12 characters from a 70-character pool is worth

The pool is 26 uppercase letters, 26 lowercase, 10 digits and eight symbols, giving 70 options per position. Twelve positions is 70 to the power of 12, about 73.5 bits.

The history list is stored in this browser

Up to 50 generated passwords go into your browser's local storage on this device and reappear when you return. They are never sent anywhere, but they do sit here in plain form.

Frequently asked questions

Is the password stored anywhere?

It is never sent to a server, but it is saved locally. Every password generated joins the history list in this browser's local storage, up to 50 entries.

Can I change the length?

It is fixed at 12 characters, which is a reasonable minimum for most accounts. Use a password manager for longer ones and for storing them safely.

Is this random enough for a bank account?

It uses the browser's ordinary random number generator, not the cryptographic one, so it is unpredictable day to day but not hardened. Use a password manager.

Can I get one without symbols?

No. There is no options panel and every position comes from the full 70-character set. If a site rejects symbols, generate again or edit it.

Does refreshing show the same password?

No. The display resets to a question mark on reload, though the history list comes back from browser storage. Copy a password before leaving.
